Northern Ireland is part of the United Kingdom and it runs about 5500 square miles in the northeast part of Ireland. , Northern Ireland has about 1,685,000; it has six counties all contained within the province of Ulster. In the United Kingdom, it is also known as one of four Home Nations, this forms a constituent country of political ideas that can help Northern Ireland. In the administration section of the United Kingdom, Northern Ireland was defined by the Government of Ireland Act of 1920, but has formed into governments that are almost the same as Scotland and Wales.

Northern Ireland has had the reputation of being a very violent and is in a battle of political conflict, those who want to stand up for the Nationalist (Catholics) and the Unionist (Protestant), so not only is it a political war but a religious one as well. The Unionist make up the majority in Northern Ireland but that is not to say the Nationalists hold a very strong minority. The violence that has erupted from these two parties has been called the Troubles. Though they have said that they had nothing to do with the violence and they have not supported the violence either. The campaigns have remained on a ceasefire since the signing of the Belfast Agreement in 1998.

The Official flag of Northern Ireland is the Union Flag. The Ulster Banner is no longer being used because the Parliament of Northern Ireland was removed in 1973. Some of the Unionist use the Union flag and the Ulster Banner. Though there is no Parliament the flag is still used as a flag just not as the official flag. Some of the Nationalist uses the Irish Tricolour. There are many people who just avoid using the flags altogether.

There are some groups that have actually used the Flag of St.Patrick, as a symbol of Northern Ireland but the countries political parties is disarray, no one wants to commit to using one united flag. In other countries like the United States and England, there is one flag and everyone no matter their political differences are they all fly under one flag.
