Enniskillen is a beautiful country town located in the County of Fermanagh in Northern Ireland. As the biggest in the county it is sits almost in the center of the county on the island that actually separates the Lower and Upper parts of the Lough Erne. When the Census was taken back in 2001, there were roughly 14,000 people in the town and with those numbers it is the largest settlement in the county. The main retail shops are located in the county as well as the seat of the local government to sit on the Fermanagh District Council.

The seat was originally given to the Maguire Family who were the first townspeople of Enniskillen Castle before the English overtook it in 1607. The taking of the Castle was in part a plan to bring the town of Ulster into English control. As the English took more and more land, the Plantation of Ulster was released to the English planters who were loyal to the throne. History has it that the Maguires were supplanted by William Cole who originally hailed from Devon, he was chosen by James I to build up an English town.

When King James II was released from power by Willliam the III, the siege of the town was successful. From then on Enniskillen was turned into a market type of town. But there was more trouble to follow. Over the centuries the Irish were targets of other countries and radical groups, as most recent as in 1987, or more as it is commonly known as Remembrance Day Bombing which left 11 people dead.
