Fermanagh is located at the most western part of the six counties that make up Northern Ireland. It is part of the Ulster providence and commonly known as the Lake District. County of Fermanagh is about 100 miles from Dublin. The county itself shares are border with County Tyrone, the other counties that make up the Republic Of Ireland, County Monaghan, Country Cavan and County Leitrim and County Donegal. Fermanagh is the only to not border the Lough Neagh.
The Fermanagh District Council is one of 26 district councils in the Northern Ireland region that happens to contain all of the counties it is named after. The council also has a very small section of the areas of County Tyrone but only in the Dromore and Kilskeery roads. The Fermanagh is a member of the part of the Fermanagh and South Tyrone Parlimentary Constituency, which is widely known for high level voting practices. They elected Provisional IRA hunger Striker, Bobby Sands as a Member of its Parliament right before his death in 1981.
It is also a very rural area that has two beautiful lakes, the Upper and the Lower Lough Erne; they together combined just to be called the Lough Erne. The Lough Erne is linked to the River Shannon and it’s adjacent waterway through the Shannon-Erne Waterway canal, this waterway is the longest inland water way in all of Europe. The county has other lakes just as beautiful, the Lough Scolborn, The Lough Melvin, the Lough Macnean both Upper and Lower.
